Winter Warmth Cheque Presentation

The Winter Warmth Fund got a boost from Horizon Utilities as they presented a cheque to the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton. United Way in turn presented the cheque to the North Hamilton Community Health Centre for $35,000. These monies
will be used to help individuals and families who are experiencing difficulties paying their energy bills this winter. During the 2008-2009 winter season, the Winter Warmth Program provided energy assistance grants totaling more than $15,000 to 46 eligible households in Hamilton and $6,000 to 21 households in St. Catharines. In Ontario, over $1.2 million was distributed to 3,400 eligible households to help cover the cost of utility bills for those who required assistance.
